Should I talk to my insurance company after an accident?

You should not talk to the insurance company after an accident. I don’t recommend it. I don’t think it’s wise to talk to the insurance company because they’re going to ask questions that are in their interest. They’re going to ask you things and they’re going to try to get you to commit to things that might not be in your best interest.

So why not wait? Take a step, take a second, and call an attorney and then truly understand what’s going on and what your rights are. In Wisconsin, an insurance company cannot use a statement given by you if it’s taken too soon after a crash. It’s not admissible in court. So why give them evidence? Why give them something that we know is not admissible in court, but they’re going to try to use anyway against you.

Simply, don’t give a recorded statement. Don’t talk to an insurance company after a crash. Wait to talk to an attorney first.
