I’ve handled dozens, probably at this point, hundreds of cases where people were injured because of a drunk driver’s negligence or a drunk driver’s intentional acts of getting behind a wheel and driving while you’re under the influence. And I shouldn’t say drunk because it’s also any intoxicated driver.
These are cases that are certainly more complex because you have to look at the insurance policy. Did the insurance policy cover not only the damages caused by negligence, but also. Any punitive damages, potentially, were they on the clock at the time? Is there a commercial policy? Are there exclusions in the insurance policy for their, their actions while they’re under the influence in our situation, we’ve helped clients by going to court with them for the victim’s assistance, you know, conferences, or to testify as a victim of a criminal act.
So. We’ve been there throughout the entire process because you’re going to get kind of torn and tugged and pulled in different directions because the DA is prosecuting the drunk driver. And then the insurance company for the drunk driver is trying to settle a property damage claim, the personal injury claim and figure out if there is insurance coverage based on the acts of the drunk driver.
So there’s lots of things happening. You know, we’ve handled these from the beginning until the end. Yeah. And certainly, hopefully our experience is going to help you understand the process and make it a little bit less stressful.
