Depending on what your practice area is, is really going to help you understand how you need to manage your calendar and how you need to manage your life as it relates to vacation. If you’re a practicing lawyer, you have to understand that you are beholden to the court’s calendar. So, depending on what kind of law you practice, and especially for me in Wisconsin, that’s why I like practicing in the personal injury civil courts, is we have a better understanding of our own calendar.
I understand that I may have a deposition scheduled at the end of June. A month away, I may have a trial scheduled six months away. And with that, I can certainly be the master of my calendar so we know exactly whether I’m going to have to have a day set aside for a deposition and a day for prep or whatever that’s going to be.
But it certainly depends on your practice area.
