Fire safety starts with awareness – protect what matters!

Posted on

As a son of a firefighter, Fire Prevention Week was usually pretty special for me because I always thought, well, maybe my dad would come by my school to give a little talk about how we can help prevent fires and how we can make sure that we’re safe. You know, just one of the things that you can do is check your batteries.

This is a good time to check the batteries in your smoke alarms, your carbon monoxide alarms, you know, things like that. Make sure that you know. Where to go if there’s a fire in your apartment or in your house? Do you have an escape plan? You know, talk with your family, talk with your kids about what that might be.

And then we all know it, stop, drop, and roll. Make sure that you know what to do when if there’s a fire, if you see smoke, if you smell smoke, if the handles on the doors are hot, where you should go, what you should do, just in case the worst happens. This is a great time just to remind yourself of what you should do in case a fire occurs and you’re stuck in that situation.

Stay safe, be careful, let us know how we can help.
