Cyber Monday: Stay Safe!

Posted on

Cyber Monday is here. Make sure you are safe when you’re shopping. I would recommend that you use a credit card when you’re paying for anything. Do not use a debit card. Make sure you know the site. And not only, you know, where you’re where you think you’re going, but where you actually end up. I think that’s a big problem.

We have training here at the office where there’s emails that will come through and it might be a link in the email. You have to make sure you know what you’re going to, you know, for example, if it’s. Best buy.ru. Well, that’s not really Best Buy. That’s Best Buy, with a Russian, definition or a Russian name behind it.

Best buy.com is the one you should be going to. It might look like Best Buy, but it’s not really Best Buy, so just make sure you’re aware of that. Extra vigilant, look at that browser and make sure it’s HTTPS so it’s secure, and then the name of the browser, make sure it’s something that’s familiar, because that can be a big problem if you go to the wrong browser, the wrong location, and enter your information, and then you just gave all your information to some hacker.

So be vigilant, make sure you double check. And again, use a credit card versus a debit card because it’s a lot easier to fight those charges with a credit card than if you’re giving somebody access to your bank account.
