The Essential School Safety Checklist for Parents

Of this before the first bell rings. Make sure you have your school safety checklist available. Just a couple things to write down and make sure you’re all on the same page. So that first day of school is less stressful than we all know it’s going to be. So for example, your bus pickup rules. When are they coming?

How long do they wait? Things like that. Well, where are they gonna pick ’em up? The emergency contacts. Are your emergency contacts updated? Do you have the right people? Have circumstances changed over the summer? Do you have new cell phone numbers, new people, things like that. Any opt-ins for text messaging.

Make sure you do that. That’s always important. Concussion protocol. What’s the concussion protocol for after school sports and events? What are your school, what are your school’s concussion protocols and what documents do you need to sign to give permission to the proper people to get your child to an ambulance or a doctor if something happens after school?

Sports waivers? Are they all signed? Had you had your child, examined many times you have to have a physical before school starts. Hey, it’s about that time. You should start thinking about that right now. And allergy plans. This is something we’ve had sadly, too many times over the past few years where children go to school. The school’s aware of the allergy, but something happens where an allergen is, brought in. A child suffers an allergic reaction because the school didn’t follow their own protocol. They didn’t follow their own process, for keeping children who have allergies away from those dangerous, foods or items.

So make sure that you’re aware and that the school is aware that your child has an allergy. You are your child’s best advocate, so make sure that you’re. On top of what the school needs to do, to keep your child safe. So if you have any questions, let us know. If you have some, desire to talk to us about maybe a child was injured because of something like this, let us know.

We’ll, happy to answer any questions. These are free consultations. Any of these, type of items that we’ve dealt with will happily share our knowledge with you and let you know our opinions on what may have happened and who may be responsible. I.
