Winter comes around each and every year, and yet it always seems like some Wisconsin residents aren’t adequately prepared for it. Winter changes a lot of things and the impact of each of those changes is not fully felt until winter is well under way. However, people do not have to wait until snow is falling and black ice is forming to take the time to get themselves better prepared. One of the keys to increasing your safety in the winter is preparation.
As the winter season kicks off and really gets into full gear, everyone has to take extra steps and extra care to keep themselves safe while traveling. Being a defensive driver is more important than ever during the winter months. Unfortunately, not every accident can be avoided by drivers being careful and practicing road safety measures. There are countless stories of crashes such as the ones that blocked I-94 in Waukesha County. Although these occurrences are uncommon throughout most of the year, the probability of them happening skyrockets during the winter months. Here’s an excerpt from the news discussing the blockage on I-94:
More than 50 vehicles crashed overnight on I-94 in Waukesha County as light snow was falling in the area. Dispatchers reported 21 vehicles in ditches and another 27 vehicles with property damage between about 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. The wrecks happened on both directions of the interstate near Highway F. Another nine wrecks involved injuries, though there were no fatalities, according to the dispatchers.
Although accidents like these are uncommon for the majority of the year, it is sometimes easy to get caught up in this even if you are not at fault. The complication comes when you become injured as a result of accidents like these. Who do you turn to for compensation? Who is responsible for any injuries you sustain.
